There is so much to talk about when it comes to blood pressure and our heart health. Already we have discussed the fact that May is the month to educate ourselves and those we love on the dangers of high blood pressure. We posted about May also being Stroke Awareness Month and how tea is really good for your heart health.

Today, I want to discuss something that is not talked about too much. It’s not a pretty topic but it is real and because we are educating ourselves on blood pressure we need have the difficult conversation about women and heart attacks.

We don’t hear a whole lot about women and heart attacks but the fact is, the risk of cardiovascular disease is increased by 56% in women, compared to 32% in men, if they have high blood pressure.

The three main risk factors make up 85% of the modifiable risk for heart disease in men and women are high cholesterol, high blood pressure and smoking. Click To Tweet
