We are now in our second month of the new year. This is the time that I like to take and reflect on my New Year’s resolutions. Previous years prove that my goals are not where I think they should be about three weeks into 2018. Luckily, with Shaklee, I am able to continue working on my goals and surpass my previous expectations for what I can accomplish in a new year. This year more than any other year, I am so excited to continue on the journey of my fitness goals and my health goals. But why is 2018 different? The question I like to ask is, where should I start my health goals? How do I begin a healthy lifestyle after living in such unhealthy conditions for so long? A healthy heart is the gateway to great health. You hear about a ‘healthy heart’ on the commercials all the time because maintaining a healthy heart is the not-so-secret life hack to better health. Your heart is a muscle just like your biceps and triceps. It has to be exercised or it will fail. Now, I don’t know about you, but for me anytime someone brings up a healthy heart, I get very nervous. I don’t know if I’m doing enough to have a healthy heart. I don’t even know what a healthy heart lifestyle should look like. So, let’s start this journey together. In this new five part series, we are going to walk through what a healthy heart looks like, how to maintain a healthy heart, and some great life skills that can improve your heart to help you live a longer and more fulfilling life.

You may be asking yourself, “why does a healthy heart matter?” Well, a healthy heart is your body’s greatest secret weapon to combat heart disease, stroke, high cholesterol, high blood pressure, and it even leads to a healthier mental state.

Having a healthy heart is a decision that we must make every day when we wake up. It’s the same choice we make when we decide to brush our hair, eat breakfast, take a walk, ride the elevator, and even what we choose when we go to the grocery store. I know that sounds like a big commitment, but I promise you it will be the best commitment you could ever make. A long and happy life with your friends, with your family, and with whomever you choose to spend your time, that is the reward of having a healthy heart. So, let’s get started!
