The month of March signifies a time for re-birth as the snow melts, flowers begin blooming and Spring sets the stage for getting “back in shape” after an indulgent holiday season.
The Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics created the National Nutrition Month campaign to create awareness on the importance of making informed food choices and developing sound eating and physical activity habits. And what began 43 years ago as a celebratory week of National Nutrition, is now a month long commitment to eating right and living healthy.
Unfortunately, National Nutrition Month is just that…..only a month and we here at Total Health Sciences want eating right and exercise to be a part of your life-long plan to stay healthy and live longer!
The theme for National Nutrition Month 2016 is “Savor the Flavor of Eating Right,” which encourages everyone to take time to enjoy food traditions and appreciate the pleasures, great flavors and social experiences food can add to our lives. How, when, why and where we eat are just as important as what we eat and in the next few weeks, we will explore topics like how food affects our sleep, our brain, colon and kidneys.
From vitamins and minerals to aerobics and CrossFit, the choices of eating plans and exercise routines can be overwhelming and we want you to be educated so you can make the choices that bring maximum wellness to your daily life! So that’s why we have developed this blog…..to bring you a variety of information that will encourage a healthy lifestyle.
